2 Days Gorilla Tour & hiking excursion to volcanoes national park to watch mountain gorillas & Mount Bisoke Hike. For this tour, trekking for gorillas is one day and Bisoke hike one day ending in Kigali.
Gorilla hiking in Rwanda takes you to Volcanoes national park situated 1-2 hours drive from Kigali the country’s capital to Kinigi park headquarters in Musanze district. The early morning drive requires you to set off as early as 5:30 am driving you through smooth roads in the cold morning with beautiful views of the Volcanic mountains of Sabyinyo, Karisimbi and Bisoke.
All visitors are required to be at the Kinigi park offices with your gorilla permit where you will meet your guide who will explain to you the etiquette and useful trekking tips when going trekking through dense bamboo forest between the Kisoke and Karisimbi volcanoes.
After your briefing, you will drive to your respective group starting points, at this point you have the option to hire a porter. As you hike to find your gorilla group, your guide is at your disposal to answer all your questions. The hike can get steep, muddy and wet in areas and challenging walking at times on the pressed bamboo sections. When you meet the gorillas, you have 1 hour to watch, photograph them. Always follow your guide’s instructions.
Once done, return back to the park headquarters where you will meet your to transfer you to your hotel for Dinner and overnight at at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge, Muhabura Hotel (Basic).
Day 2: Mount Bisoke Hike – Departure
Start the day early with breakfast at your hotel, and with packed lunch set off for assemble at the Kinigi headqhaters for briefing about your hike and there after drive to the Bisoke heat trail where the Hike starts of from. The Bisoke hike require yo to be in good shape and taking a porter is very much recommended.
The hike to and from takes about 6 – 7 hours. Your guide will be waiting for your return to transfer you back to Kigali for drop off at hotel or airport.
