5 Days Congo budget safari offering gorilla trekking and Mount Nyiragongo hiking. Congo offers tourists a mind blowing adventure watching the red hot molten lave boiling. Located in eastern part of Congo which is a very safe pat of Congo to visit. This tour also explores mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park home to 6 habituated mountain gorilla families open to visitors.
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali – Transfer to Gisenyi for a relaxing night along the shores of Lake Kivu
Day 2: Hike Mount Nyiragongo to the top – watch the bright molten red lava in the dark night
Day 3: Descend the Volcano and transfer to Goma / Virunga for overnight
Day 4: Virunga Gorilla Trekking
Day 5: Cross back to Kigali – Departure
Day 1: Pickup from Kigali – Transfer to Gisenyi
The tour starts with pickup from Kigali, depending on your pickup time, you will have a Kigali city tour to he genocide memorial site. Have lunch and drive to Gisenyi Lake kivu where ou will have dinner and overnight at Paradise Malahide / Gorillas Hotel (midrange), Lake Kivu serena hotel (luxury)
Day 2: Hike Mount Nyiragongo
Mount Nyiragongo hikes start from Kibati village, Goma in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The hike isnt strenous but requires sturdy shoes as you step on loose volcanic rocks from the previous eruptions taking you crossing all vegetation zones as you go up.
Don’t underestimate the hike, good physical shape if very necessary. We recommend a walking sticks at the briefing point and a porter carry your backpack.
The view at the top is absolutely stunning in the night staring watching the glowing red lava.
Day 3: Descend the volcano
The descend is much easier than the hiking and your guide / drive will be waiting for you to drive you to Virunga national park or Goma depending on your accommodation choice.
Overnight at Ihusi Hotel (midrange) and Mikeno lodge / Bukima tented camp (luxury)
Day 4: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Congo
Have a cup of coffee at your hotel and drive to Virunga park offices to find briefing orientation for mountain gorilla trekking in Virunga national park. You will be split into groups of 8 tourists and embark on your gorilla tour to meet your habituated gorilla family. Once your hour with the gorillas is done, meet your guide back at the tracking point.
Dinner and overnight at Ihusi Hotel (midrange) and Mikeno lodge / Bukima tented camp (luxury)
Day 5: Drive Back to Kigali – Departure
Wakeup at leisure today enjoying the beautiful hotel, have breakfast and later be ready to drive back via Goma to Gisenyi.
Drive back to Kigali with a drop off at either your hotel or the airport.
