Rwanda Tourists don’t requires Arrival covid-19 tests ahead of CHOGM

All tourists in Rwanda across all borders and airports don’t require to test for covid-19 ahead of the CHOGM 2022. The Rwandan government has published adjusted guidelines for passengers arriving in the country ahead of the CHOGM event to ease entry into the country for the summit. The changes will be revised depending on the prevailing health conditions in the country with regards to COVID-19.

General Guideline for all passengers attending CHOGM OR NOT

  • All travelers to Rwanda must have a 72-hour negative covid test – Rapid test or PCR test, before boarding flight to Kigali. Children below 5 years do not require a test.
  • Travelers no longer have to fill out a passenger locator form prior to arrival. This is no longer necessary
  • No more arrival tests for all passengers with covid-19 vaccination cards. Arrivals with no vaccination history will however undergo covid-19 tests upon arrival – Rapid antigen test or PCR test
  • Tourists heading for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park and Nyungwe national park for chimpanzee tracking and Gishwati-Mukura National Parks require a 72hr negative covid tests – Rapid test or PCR test.
  • All health facilities offer covid-19 testing services and a number of designated sites provided by government around the country. Covid-19 tests cost $50 for PCR test for international while costs $30 for Rwandan citizens and $5 for Rapid test. Any of the two tests is acceptable countrywide and at borders
  • PRC tests can be booked prior to make appointments via https://irembo.gov.rw/home/citizen/all_services for timely results also available at major health facilities in Kigali and hotels like Serena Kigali hotel, camp Kigali. You can pay cash $50 or pay by credit card.
  • Test results from covid samples can be communicated privately to individuals via sms or email and all acceptable countrywide. Results can also be accessed at rbc.gov.rw or from Rwanda Biomedical Center’s – RBC Medical Team on 114 or covid@rbc.gov.rw
  • Wearing of face masks is no longer mandatory in Rwanda but recommended to wear one in public places
  • Travelling leaving Rwanda are longer subjected to mandatory covid-19 testing unless its individual requirement from your next destination.
  • There is zero tolerance for anyone who tests positive for covid-19 at arrival, during your stay in Rwanda no matter your vaccination status. You will be isolated immediately at a government run treatment center or at a hotel on your cost until you test negative cannot fly out of the country.

No, starting June 2022, Rwanda does not operate covid-19 testing at arrival for all passengers with fully vaccinated cards
