RwandAir opens new routes to South Africa & Nigeria

With a mission to become one of Africa’s largest air craft, RwandaAir is expanding her routes further in Africa and the latest is south Africa and Nigeria. The new two additional routes will increase the national carrier to 26 destinations worldwide. Recognize by the International Air transport association (IATA, as one of Africa’s safest and on time performer by world aviation organization.

The national carrier, is set to operate four flights weekly from Kigali to Cape Town with a stopover in Harare, Zimbabwe according to information from RwandAir officials. On the other hand, the Abuja route will operate 4 times a week going through the Accra Ghana. The Nigerian government granted RwandAir the fifth freedom right.

Other routes in plan include Cape Verde where the airline already signed a bilateral air service agreement, hence opening more ventures while welcoming new routes on board – a new route directly impacts on Rwanda’s exporters with the ease to move goods to these new destinations, forging trade deals is also much easier.

Although the actual date when the flights start off isn’t yet set, this is a big milestone for RwandAir to continue her expansion goal internationally.

Through RwandAir expansion target, Rwanda as a destination benefits in terms of economy growth, tourism, trade and and enhance mutual partnership between the Land of a thousand Hills and Nigeria and South Africa.

Future Plans
The near future is a great possibility for Rwandan carrier with a great plan to launch flights to New York in the US and other Asian destinations, including China while just within Africa, RwandAir plans to introduce routes to Lilongwe in Malawi, Senegal and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia as well as Conakry in Guinea, Bamako in Mali as well as Dakar.

Accomplishments
RwandAir just last year launched a number of commercial flights to London (Gatwick) and Brussels, Mumbai, Harare.
